To all of you who are totally freaking out and stressing like crazy because you didn’t send out your Christmas gifts yet to your long-distance contacts: stop!!! Take a deep breath, because everything is going to be okay. If you didn’t send out your gifts early enough and they’re not going to get there on time it’s totally cool—it’s actually even better. Here’s why!
Christmas is an overwhelming time for everyone. People are busy making gift lists, buying gifts, buying food, going to holiday parties, planning dinners—the list could go on forever. By the time it’s Christmas, people are tired and worn out from all the holiday prep of the season. And on Christmas, they are overwhelmed with all of the food, family, and presents they are getting! They won’t be paying attention to every gift they get since they are so busy. With all of these different things going on, they probably don’t even care. By sending your gifts out later, you’re ensuring it will get looked at. Your friends or family will be getting your gifts after they’ve had some time to recuperate! They will actually be able to pay attention to your thoughtful gift. They will appreciate that you made the effort to send them a gift. Especially if you live far away, or you’re notoriously busy. They will understand, and they will still love you! Even if you’re late!
Also, if you are the type of person to send people gifts for the New Year as well as for Christmas, a late gift is actually better for you! It’ll save you money by killing two birds with one stone…. Or more like killing two gifts with one! Okay well maybe that doesn’t work, but you get the point. By sending a gift that arrives later than Christmas but earlier than the New Year, you can say this is a Christmas and New Year gift! Or you could call it a holiday gift! However you frame it, your thoughtful gift around the holiday season to wish your loved ones a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year will be appreciated no matter when it gets there. So relax and don’t worry, and get to sending those gifts as soon as you can do it.
